Welcome to St. Timothy School!
St. Timothy School is a place where our goal is to make learning challenging, fun, and focused on students becoming their best selves in a Christian environment.
St. Timothy School is a weekday ministry of St. Timothy United Methodist Church. It is an extension of the church’s program of Christian education, and is governed by a Board of Directors from the church. An exciting educational program, including core classes, plus art, music, science, computer, creative movement, free play and chapel, will be included. We look forward to providing a loving, caring, Christian environment for your child.
An Excellent Preschool and Primary Education
St. Timothy School is unique. We are a Methodist school that offers a preschool and a primary program, one of the few Methodist primary schools in the area. From age 6 months through 5th grade, students get a quality and affordable education in a nurturing Christian environment. Under the direction of the founding directors, Sharman Pirkle and Kathryn Gibson, St. Timothy School grew from a Mother’s Morning Out program into an excellent preschool and primary school. Our preschool is also “A Methodist School of Excellence”, a special preschool recognition by the North Georgia United Methodist Preschool Association. St. Timothy School has been and continues to be a Spirit-led weekday ministry of St. Timothy UMC Church.
St. Timothy School provides an educational experience with a comprehensive academic curriculum. St. Timothy School also considers each student’s developmental needs and emphasizes growth in all areas...physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
The curriculum for our preschool includes a balance of guided play activities, creative movement, reading and math readiness, and creative art. We also support the children’s creativity through music, conversation, story times, and dramatic play. Outdoor play and group activities round out their schedule. Chapel is also an important part of their spiritual experience here.
By carefully selecting our primary school curriculum from different publishers, our school can give students a balanced program allowing them to excel. We also use some of the same curriculum you find at much more expensive private schools. Outdoor play, Bible class, and chapel help to meet the complete needs of our primary students.
We test all primary students annually using the Stanford 10 Standardized Test. St. Timothy School students score well. The average score is about two years above grade level, with several students scoring much higher. Our dedicated faculty’s challenge is to reach all students where they are and help them to reach their own individual potential.
After School ActivitiesSt. Timothy School offers the onsite convenience of a variety of after school activities. Just to name a few, we offer dance, martial arts, gymnastics, and chess. There is also cheerleading, enrichment classes in math and reading, robotics, and more.
